Hand Reamer
Functions For Hand Reamer:
A hand reamer is used for the final sizing of holes, accurately enlarging or shaping existing ones. It features a set of cutting edges at the end. When in use, the reamer is manually rotated, and the cutting edges gradually remove material from the hole walls to achieve the desired diameter and surface smoothness. Hand reamers are commonly employed in processes that require higher precision and superior surface quality.
Usage and Precautions for Hand Reamer:
When using hand reamers to bore a hole, begin by drilling a hole in the workpiece with a slightly smaller diameter than needed. Then, choose the appropriate size of hand reamer. Before using the hand reamer, make sure to apply cutting fluid to both the workpiece surface and the reamer tool to reduce friction and wear, as well as to cool the tool and workpiece.
Insert the hand reamer into the pre-drilled hole and use a suitable reamer wrench to apply rotating force, gradually enlarging the hole's diameter. Periodically pause during this process to check the hole's dimensions and ensure they meet the requirements. If necessary, reapply cutting fluid to maintain smooth cutting.
Once the machining is complete, remove the hand reamer from the hole and clean both the workpiece and the reamer tool to eliminate cutting fluid and metal chips. Finally, perform the necessary measurements and inspections to ensure the hole's dimensions and quality meet the specified requirements.
